"A business that has stalled rarely has a marketing shortage. It has constraints. Until those are found, spending more only makes the same result more expensive."

That is not a theory I arrived with. It came out of twenty years and more than two hundred businesses. Since 2006, through websites, search, advertising, conversion, and messaging, the same patterns kept recurring, and documenting them is what the work became. WCKD Marketing Inc. is where the method gets proven and the systems get built.

Find the limits, clear them by building a base that actually converts, then scale demand onto it. What gets built transfers to you, so your own team can run it.

Approach

Marketing problems are usually mistaken for marketing shortages. A company that is not growing tends to buy more of something: more traffic, more content, more advertising. Meanwhile the real limits sit somewhere else entirely, in an offer that does not land, a message that does not connect, a site that does not convert, or a sales process that drops what marketing brings in.

That order is the whole argument. Spending on traffic before the base works makes the leak more expensive, not smaller. Work is delivered as systems you keep and your team can run, rather than as retained activity you have to keep paying for. The difference shows up at the end of an engagement: you own the asset instead of renting the capability.

Background

I studied Multimedia Design and Development at Durham College from 2005 to 2008, covering visual arts, computer science, and business strategy, and worked as a marketing and communications assistant for the student association serving Durham College, UOIT, and Trent.

I began freelancing as a web developer in June 2006, working across Oshawa and Peterborough. From 2009 to 2014 I was a web developer at Fleming College in Peterborough, where I was the sole front-end developer and designer on a full rebuild of the college's main website, working alongside one senior backend developer from planning and wireframing through to build and day-to-day management. That design stayed in service for roughly six years.

The practice expanded through the layers a client needs, in sequence. Websites first, then search visibility, then paid acquisition for immediate momentum, then conversion optimization once traffic proved insufficient on its own, then messaging once it became clear that weak positioning cannot be optimized around.

I founded WCKD Marketing as a sole proprietorship in June 2015 and incorporated it in March 2018. WCKD MARKETING is a registered Canadian trademark, held personally since 2018.

WCKD Marketing

WCKD Marketing Inc. works with service-based businesses across Canada, with most of its work in Ontario. Its capability areas are brand development, online presence, targeted campaigns, sales enablement and readiness, and performance optimization.

The model is built around a documented operating system rather than being assembled per engagement, so clients get a working baseline immediately and then have it adapted to their market. The resulting systems transfer to the client, and ongoing execution is delivered by the WCKD Marketing team.
